When it comes to breakfast, I don’t mess around and neither does Charleston. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, these breakfast spots are a must try. Growing up in Charleston, I’ve tried it all – so I thought I would share some of my favorites. From flaky biscuits to perfect pastries, here’s where you need to go for the best breakfast in Charleston, SC.

Millers All Day

Locations: 120 King St, Charleston, SC 29401 & 1956 Maybank Hwy Unit A, Charleston, SC 29412

Why It’s a Hit: Known for its relaxed vibe and top-notch breakfast, Millers All Day is all about Southern comfort food with a modern twist. With locations in downtown Charleston and James Island, it’s a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

What to Order: Start with their famous banana bread, which is perfect for sharing. Their biscuits are legendary, with a flaky, buttery texture that’s hard to beat. Don’t miss out on their Southern-style breakfast plates if you’re hungry for more.

Weltons Tiny Bakeshop

Location: 682 King St, Charleston, SC 29403

Why It’s a Hit: For unique pastries and a cozy vibe, Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop is a must-visit. This spot is perfect for a relaxed breakfast where you can enjoy some of the best baked goods in Charleston, SC.

What to Order: Their selection of pastries changes regularly, but they are always amazing. Perfect to enjoy on the go or grab a seat outside!

What to Order: Go early to get the best pick of pastries, my personal favorite being their take on a pop tart. For a more filling option, choose from a variety of breakfast plates, French toast and more!

Marina Variety Store Restaurant

Location: 9 Lockwood Dr, Charleston, SC 29401

Why It’s a Hit: Marina Variety Store is a classic that’s been serving up breakfast since the 1960s, so it’s no surprise this place is on my list for the best breakfast places in Charleston, SC. If you’re into no-frills, hearty breakfasts, this place is worth a visit.

What to Order: Their classic breakfast plates are simple but satisfying. Ask for a table by the window for a view of the Charleston Harbor!

Island Provisions

Locations: 221 St Philip St, Charleston, SC 29403 & 1803 Crowne Commons Way A2, Johns Island, SC 29455

Why It’s a Hit: Island Provisions is a casual spot for great coffee and tasty breakfast sandwiches with two locations throughout the Charleston area. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast to go or sitting down, this place is a solid choice.

What to Order: Their breakfast sandwiches are well-crafted and delicious. Enjoy them with a coffee on their patio if the weather’s nice or you have a pup with you!

Charleston Farmers Market

Location: 329 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29403

Why It’s a Hit: Can’t decide what you’re in the mood for? If it’s a Saturday between April and November, you’re in luck! The Charleston Farmers Market the perfect place to browse a variety of breakfast options and enjoy a lively atmosphere.

What to Order: I head straight to the crêpe stand, but heads up – it’s cash only. If you can’t manage to snag a table, you can always walk around and check out the other vendors.

Bodega CHS

Location: 23 Ann St, Charleston, SC 29403 & 414 West Coleman Blvd Mount Pleasant, SC 29429

Why It’s a Hit: If you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich, Bodega is where you need to go. Choose between their two locations located in Mt Pleasant and downtown.

What to Order: Keep it simple with The Bodega Classic or go for one of their more adventurous options. You can order online for a quick, easy meal but I’m all for dining in and having a couple of cocktails.

The Red Drum

Location: 803 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464

Why It’s a Hit: If you’re looking for a leisurely Sunday brunch in Mt Pleasant, I love The Red Drum’s relaxed atmosphere.

What to Order: A must-try: the donuts. I think about them once a week at a minimum. Most people order them for dessert, but I order them as an app for the table. For mains, choose between French toast, shrimp and grits, and more – There’s something for everyone!

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit

Locations: 476 1/2 King St, Charleston, SC 29403 & 188 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29401

Why It’s a Hit: Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit is a Charleston institution. This spot is perfect if you’re looking to grab some classic Southern biscuits. Pick from two downtown locations—both offer counter service and online ordering with limited seating. I usually opt to grab my order to go and enjoy it elsewhere.

What to Order: Their biscuits are available in various flavors, from savory sausage or ham to pimento cheese, or even build your own. The cinnamon biscuits are a must-try—get some for the group…or keep them to yourself!

Daps Breakfast & Imbibe

Location: 280 Ashley Ave, Charleston, SC 29403

Why It’s a Hit: Daps Breakfast & Imbibe is a cool spot, known for their inventive dishes and laid-back atmosphere. After placing your order at the counter, you can enjoy the patio if the weather’s nice, or choose from plenty of indoor seating if you prefer.

What to Order: The hash plate is a standout – with cheese sauce of course. Their Fruity Pebble pancake is a fun, colorful option that’s perfect for sharing or indulging on your own.

Mozzo Deli

Why It’s a Hit: Mozzo Deli is your go-to for fantastic breakfast sandwiches and deli options. With locations in both downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant, it’s easy to swing by for a quick meal.

What to Order: Their breakfast sandwiches are top-notch, and you can also grab something from their deli section for later. Order online or at the counter when you arrive.
