I’m Abby McCool — Charleston native, food obsessive, and someone who would absolutely fly across the country for a great sandwich. I created this site to share the places, meals, and experiences that are actually worth your time — whether you’re planning a trip, looking for your next go-to restaurant, or just killing time at work.
This isn’t a blog full of filler or overly curated travel clichés. It’s a collection of real recommendations from real trips. If I write about it, it’s because I’ve actually done it (and liked it).
How I Got Started
Like a lot of people, I started by taking pictures of my food and posting them on Instagram. The difference is I never really stopped. Back in 2016, I launched @food.slayer, partly for fun and partly to keep track of all the places I was eating. Over time, people started asking for more — where to eat, what to do, how to plan trips without going insane.
That turned into this site. I’ve always been the person who over-researches everything — restaurants, neighborhoods, flights, how long it really takes to get from Point A to Point B. Now, I put that energy to good use and share it with anyone who wants a shortcut to a better trip (and better food).
Whether you’re looking for a tight itinerary, a last-minute rec, or just something that isn’t on every top-10 list, you’ll find it here.
